What a fascinating world that of mushrooms! And of incredible diversity, in their sizes, shapes and colors as well as in their habitats and lifestyles. Thanks to the very beautiful pictures of the Czech mycologist and photographer Jaroslav Maly, this book invites you on a journey in pictures in this extraordinary universe, whose beauty is matched only by its unusual character. The texts both rigorous and inspired by Alain Bellocq, recognized mycologist, shed light on its meaning and encourage us to see with an even more curious eye these living beings apart, neither animals nor plants: these astonishing mushrooms.
Jaroslav Maly is a Czech mycologist and naturalist photographer. In his childhood, he spent a lot of time in the forests near his village, where he developed his passion for nature. He then became more interested in mushrooms, and became a member of the Czech Mycological Society. He himself founded a mycological club in Mélnik, where he currently resides, and organizes various educational activities for young audiences. Through his photographs, which appear regularly in magazines and other publications, he tries to transmit his knowledge of mushrooms and to share their singular beauty. Alain Bellocq is a former teacher and school director; he began to train with Marcel Bon, an internationally renowned Picard mycologist. Specialized in the study of the genus Inocybe, sensitive to the photographic representation of fungi, he is very involved in the associative world, in particular as president of the Federation of mycological associations of the West and as secretary of the Mycological Observatory.
